A large amount of our electronic devices have microphones. Currently, the earth is covered with microphones in constant motion. They are only used a few minutes each day by their owners. Even though these media and devices occupy our senses and leisure time, they are asleep most of the time. Or are they?
During his residency at Avatar, Philippe-Aubert Gauthier wants to investigate, discover and measure some artistic hypotheses behind the techniques and ideas involved in site sound recognition by mobile audio devices and smartphones. In line with his artistic approach, he will investigate the possibilities of redirecting these processes towards the field of audio art.
