Avatar is equipped to manage creating, producing, disseminating and distributing sound art and electronic art.

We take part in planning the project, developing financing strategies, designing and manufacturing the electronic elements or programs, recording sound sources, coordinating the manufacturing process, and fine-tuning active, interactive or automated elements, whether independent or in a network.

Avatar exists not only to meet the challenges posed by artists exploring the new possibilities of recent technologies, but also to work with artists seeking creative ways to use known techniques.

Avatar est un centre d’artistes autogéré spécialisé dans la recherche, la création et la diffusion de l’art audio et électronique. Suscitant des activités favorables aux échanges, à la création et à la production, Avatar stimule la collaboration entre les artistes via un réseau local et international, et ce depuis sa fondation en 1993.

En dehors des heures dédiées aux projets soutenus par Avatar, ses ressources sont mises à disposition des artistes indépendants, des organismes sans but lucratif et dans certains cas pour des réalisations commerciales.

The audio studio is approximately 5 X 6 metres. The top-of-the-line equipment can handle the entire range of sound recording, from the actual recording, to processing and digital multitrack audio mixing, to mastering.

The sound recording studio is a testing laboratory for both developing devices or installations and for sound recording with controlled acoustics. This space may also be used as a gallery.

The electronics laboratory is approximately 3.5 X 4.5 metres. It can be used to produce pieces or basic electronic circuits and other editing. It is equipped with an editing table with special lighting and the necessary tools.

You can now get a high-quality recording of your MIDI files played on a 7’6” Yamaha DC7 concert grand, without having to come to our studios.

This new service lets you email your MIDI files and instructions to us for recording. We will send you an excerpt in MP3 format for approval, and then we will send you the final files in the format that suits you. Don’t hesitate to contact us to get our rates, production times or any other information.
